“The body remembers what the mind forgets — and it also holds the key to healing.”
Hi, I’m Summer Fry (she/her), a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern under the supervision of Marcy Smaha, LPC. I'm in the final months of completing my master’s degree and currently offering therapy services through the ACC internship program.
My approach to therapy is rooted in a deep respect for the wisdom of the body and the importance of safe, nurturing connection. I work primarily from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) lens, integrating somatic awareness and expressive arts into the therapeutic process. I believe our stories live not just in our thoughts, but in our posture, our breath, and the rhythms of our nervous system—and that real healing involves bringing all of these pieces into relationship.
In therapy, I show up with curiosity, creativity, and compassion. I’m especially passionate about helping people work through life transitions, religious trauma, grief, identity shifts, relational wounds, and disconnection from the self. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trying to make sense of complicated family dynamics, or longing to feel more grounded and whole in your body, I’m here to walk alongside you.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent years directing movement programs and facilitating community-based workshops focused on embodiment, creativity, and emotional expression. That experience continues to shape my belief that healing doesn’t have to happen in a sterile room—it can happen through breath, movement, imagery, and the quiet practice of tuning inward.
I offer a gentle, nonjudgmental space where clients can slow down, feel their feelings, and reconnect with their internal compass. My work is often informed by attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and parts work, and I tailor my approach to meet the needs of each individual.
Outside of the therapy room, you can often find me barefoot in the dance studio, creating ritual-based retreats, or spending time in nature with people I love. I'm also the founder of a nonprofit arts organization where I direct movement-based productions that explore identity, belonging, and transformation.
If you’re feeling called to reconnect with yourself or others in a more honest and embodied way, I’d be honored to hold space for that journey with you.
Summer joins us from Bushnell University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. She accepts PacificSource OHP as well as wellness-rate sliding scale.
